ACM news

Well, as some of you if not all of you, by the looks of the forum and constant chatter within the WPC, Aliens: Colonial Marines was released on Tuesday. Everyone who owns it has had a damn good chance to play it, and get a feel for the game.

In my personal opinion, I feel it’s a great game, but I’m quite simple minded when it comes to FPS games, as I don’t focus on the pixel count of a concrete wall, or the amount polygons used in a Xenomorph’s left arse cheek, I play games to have fun, and fun is what I’ve most definitely been having.

The campaign feels fresh and fun to me, it’s something new, and it’s a damn Aliens game! This definitely gets a plus vote from me. I had many many Squeaky bum time moments playing through, even though it was on recruit! As did a few others that I spoke to.

From a face hugger climbing over a crate near a gas leak, causing Whisky’s voice to raise 5 octaves, to me hyperventilating being chased by the Raven, just these two examples lead me to smile about the game.

Versus mode needs dedicated servers! It’s a must! Aside from that fact, and my grumpiness to begin with at being constantly owned, after a few practice rounds I learned to love it. I do enjoy the fast rounds and swapping of factions, but longer rounds would definitely be appreciated a one point.

So, after that drivel, what are your thoughts of the game, and remember my views on polygons, pixels, and fanboyism!

CS: GO Update

On the 13^th of Feb, Counter Strike: Global offensive, released an update. Including some of the following: -

*Deagle: increased effective range.

*P250: reduced effective range.

*Glock: increased recoil on burst.

*Fixed some sv convars so they can be executed via map cfg files

*Fixed the regular radar images not showing on the loading screen for workshop/custom maps

*Fixed an interpolation exploit with bogus update rates.

*Fixed a regression where old protobuf demo files failed to play. All protobuf demos should be playable again.

*Maps that are newly subscribed are now highlighted as NEW in the UI.

UK server

A week ago, on a Saturday, I decided not to spend my day playing games, instead I turn my attention to fixing my Server box, Now it may pale in comparison to Buzz’s Supercomputer which we’ve just lost, But it does pack a bit of a punch, and as such will be taking over some server which were redacted from Buzz’s.

These are dependent on what the WPC wants to have, so your views, and any potential additions is appreciated.

HLXCE Stats site

As well as the Server coming back, and hosting once again, the WPC HLXCE Stats site is back.

What does this mean?

Well, its means, that any source game that is hosted by the WPC will be linked into the stats system, these will then be recorded in an MySQL database, linked to the Stats website, and then displayed in a lovely manner.

Where can I find this site?

Horsemeat found in some school dinners

The first case of horsemeat in school dinners in mainland UK has been found by Food Standards Agency tests.

The horsemeat DNA was discovered in cottage pies delivered to 47 schools in Lancashire.

It has now been removed from kitchens and officials say children would have consumed only a "minute" amount of horsemeat.

In all honesty what is the difference between horse and cow? Other than from Genus, is it ok to eat cow because the y seem stupid? Is it bad to eat horse because they are kept as pets?

Chinese Year of Snake celebrations in Asia

Millions of people are celebrating Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year, the most important annual holiday in much of Asia.

The New Year began in China at midnight, with firework displays and family gatherings.

It marked the opening of the year of the snake, taking over from the dragon.

In China, an estimated 200 million people have travelled to be with their families in what is considered the biggest mass human migration on Earth.

Carnival Triumph passengers disembark in Alabama

All 3,200 passengers have now disembarked from a crippled cruise ship that reached the US coast five days after an engine fire knocked out power.

The Carnival Triumph docked in Mobile, Alabama, at 21:15 (03:15 GMT Friday).

Disembarking the passengers took more than four hours and many still faced a long bus journey to New Orleans or to the port of departure, Galveston.

Passengers had reported sewage on the floors, poor sanitation and lack of access to toilets.

Some lined the decks as the 900ft (275m) ship docked, waving and cheering at people on shore.
