Clan Council

Hey-ho! Its your friendly neighborhood WooDman here again to bring you yet another fun newsletter that will throw awesomesauce all over your faces! Time to strap on the ol' boots and ride my unicorn to success. You'll read about everything from dancing zombies, Whisky and the beer-o, and Virion getting his computer broken by some invisible Butt-Munchkins! So come with me and lets find out whats going on this week in the matrix.....

Lets see whats happening around the world, shall we?

Queens, New York (USA
)
In Hollywood, a youthful look is an asset. In the line at airport security, not so much.
It's a lesson Emma Watson found out the hard, somewhat embarrassing way, as the erstwhile "Harry Potter" star took to Twitter to reveal that a member of the TSA held up her recent holiday journey after being convinced that she was a child.
Make that, a very young child, in need of a parent to travel with.

"Passport control: 'unaccompanied minor?' Me: 'sorry?' Passport control: 'where is ur guardian?' Me: 'I'm 22!!!!!!!
#neverwearingabackpackagain."

We all make mistakes, but geezus! Apparently there is someone out there that hasnt seen the Harry Potter films lol Who knew?

Norfolk, Virgina (USA)

Many cats get surly when given lion haircuts, but not Charles the Labradoodle. He relishes his majestic style — even if it can result in run-ins with the fuzz.
The Virginian-Pilot reported Wednesday that 911 dispatchers received a nervous call about a baby lion roaming the streets of Norfolk, Va., possibly on the prowl for something to eat. Concerned police checked with a local zoo to make sure no lions had escaped.

They hadn’t.

As it turned out, all was well. The “baby lion” seen frolicking near Daniel’s Lawn & Garden Center on Colley Avenue was just Charles the dog.

LOL and I thought my eyesight was bad. I can see that the haircut made the dog look like a lion, but come on! Baby lions dont have a big ol mane like that! Silly people.....

The Interwebs (WWW)

Your JAVA is gonna get you!! Beware! Delete everything and continue to live in your moms basement! lol Nah, im just kidding....but Whisky wanted me to relay a message to everybody:
Java has been compromised but this doesn't mean you have to un-install and stop using it. If successfully exploited, these vulnerabilities can provide a malicious attacker the ability to plant discretionary binaries onto the compromised system, e.g. the vulnerabilities can be exploited to install malware, including Trojans, onto the targeted system.

There is a patch to fix this vulnerability:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/top ... ve-2012-4681-1835715.html

There is absolutely no need to uninstall any or all versions of Java from all platforms, it's only browsers using Java based plugins that are at risk. Which is par for the course. As per usual the user is the security risk, not the program. Play smart, play safe.

...moving on...

Site Traffic
Everything seems to be quiet on the site at the moment thanks to the tiredless efforts of SNOOZE!!! We recently had an over abundance of SPAM occur on the site, but its been dealt with. If you have friends that want to join the WPC website, please inform Mrs. Snooze of the name they signed up with so she can process them accordingly. Spam is never a good thing, even in edible form....

New Members
There are no new members this week. Unfortunatly some were turned down to in-activity. Its never a good thing to see, but if a person really wanted to be in this clan, they would show it!
So yeah, nothing new to report really....

New Avatars
Hemi had decided to offer up his awesome talent once again (for a limited time only). If any of you have NOT recieved an avatar from Hemi in the past, you can now request one today! Check out the thread here: http://www.wolfpackclan.com/modules/n ... mp;forum=2#forumpost32788

Polls
Due to some "unforseen" circumstances, Virion has been having problems with his computer. The decision was made that Cherry will now be assisting him with making up the polls for the website from now on. I do hope you find those Butt-Munchkins, Virion, but dont feed them after midnight!

Aliens Killing Floor Server
Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls....that right, youve heard it right here (and sorta on the last newsletter) ....the AKF Server has been updated and is BACK!! Thanks to all the time spent by our lovely server guru's, the server is back and running beautifully. I encourage all of you to go check it out, represent the TRUE WPC NAME and thank Hemi and Whisky for all of the hard work they put into this!

Deadspace Mod Server

Ever since TWI did some sort of update for the Christmas event, it broke this server. But hey, guess what a lil bird told me....ITS BACK! Hemi was a clever lil rascal and put the server on Survival mode and it works again. So, for all you die-hard fans of the Deadspace mod, you got it back baby! Thanks Hemi!! <333

...in other server news...

DayZ Server
This server is back as well, with a whole new map for everybody to check out. Namalsk is the name of the map, where im told its COLD!! A bit of a smaller map then the orginal, this map still packs a punch. Food is rare, its freezing outside and you start off in nothing but your underwear. Well, maybe not...but still, its a fun map so im told. Make sure to bring your friends!

Steam Box
Premier game developer Valve shook the electronic entertainment world on Monday when it said that it had was working on its own open system console, which the press has dubbed the “Steam Box.” Rumors had been building for some time, creating huge excitement.

Gabe Newell, chief executive of Valve, acknowledged in an interview with The Verge that his company was working on the Steam Box and had invested in Xi3, which has a new gaming PC, called Piston, on display this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Projected asking price... $999.

Microsoft Illumiroom

During Samsung’s keynote at CES, Microsoft unveiled IllumiRoom, a new technology that turns the entire room around your TV into an extension of the screen. As explained on Microsoft’s official site, IllumiRoom uses Kinect and a projector “to blur the lines between on-screen content and the environment we live in allowing us to combine our virtual and physical worlds.”

Microsoft explains that IllumiRoom “augments the area surrounding a television screen with projected visualizations to enhance the traditional living room entertainment experience” and “can change the appearance of the room, induce apparent motion, extend the field of view, and enable entirely new game experiences." Kinect captures the geometry of a room and adapts projected visuals “in real-time without any need to custom pre-process the graphics.”

I think it looks kinda cool, but its still not practical at all. I dont think people playing by themselves would even notice it if they are focused on the main screen, but hey that just me lol

Anyway...

Well, I think that will do it for me for this week folks. I sure hope you all enjoyed this weeks newsletter! But before I sign off, ill leave you with this weeks funny video:

Remember, there is always a Whisky in the woods...drinkin' a beer, smoking a cigarette...
